Therapy

Therapy for children and teens and parent-based therapy is billed hourly.

For the first session, a longer appointment of 80 min. is recommended to assure a strong, comprehensive treatment plan that considers relevant background information. ($335)

Insurance

Nova Scotia’s Medical Services Insurance (MSI) does not cover the services of psychologists in private practice. However, many health plans do cover a portion of the fees for private psychologist services. For example: Medavie Blue Cross, Manulife.

Fees not covered by health plans may be an income tax deduction.

Please contact your insurance provider to find out what psychological services are covered and how much coverage you have. If you are seeking an assessment, please find out whether you have hourly coverage or lump sum coverage (as assessments require multiple hours per day). You may also wish to ask if you require a referral from a physician for coverage.

Note: Direct billing is not available at this time. Information will be posted here once it’s available.

Cancellation Policy

Assessment Appointments

Five business days’ notice is required for cancellation of assessment appointments (e.g., psychoeducational assessment, ADHD assessment). Appointments cancelled within three days of the appointment will result in a cancellation charge of 75% of the fees for the time that was reserved for the appointment.

Therapy Appointments

Cancellation of therapy appointments requires 24 hours’ notice. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice will result in a cancellation charge of 75% of the fee for the time that was reserved for the appointment.

Please note that invoices for missed appointments state “missed appointment.” Most insurance companies do not reimburse for missed appointment costs.
